Job Description
Job Title: Accounts & Administration Officer – Nairobi, Kenya
Company: Summit Recruitment and Search
About the Role
We're seeking a driven Accounts & Administration Officer to join our team and take ownership of our financial operations and administrative functions. This is a hands-on position where you'll manage accounting records, oversee billing and collections, handle treasury operations, ensure tax compliance, and administer our workshop finances. You'll work independently, maintain rigorous financial controls, and mentor a junior team member while supporting the broader business operations.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll maintain comprehensive accounting records covering the general ledger, fixed assets, fleet assets, and intercompany transactions, delivering accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports that drive business insights. Your billing expertise will ensure the complete customer billing cycle runs smoothly, from invoicing through collections and revenue recognition. You'll take full responsibility for workshop financial administration, managing invoicing, parts procurement, inventory reconciliation, petty cash, and profitability tracking.
Payment processing and cash management fall within your purview too—you'll handle supplier payments, statutory remittances, payroll-related transactions, and cash flow forecasts while tracking foreign currency movements. Regulatory compliance is paramount; you'll ensure adherence to IFRS standards, Kenyan tax laws, and statutory requirements while supporting both internal and external audit processes.
You'll develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, producing management reports that enable strategic decision-making and performance evaluation. Beyond finance, you'll coordinate general office administration, maintain company records, manage relationships with banks and suppliers, and provide high-level administrative support to management. Your leadership will extend to supervising and developing your Finance & Administration Assistant while embedding strong financial controls throughout daily operations.
What We're Looking For
You'll hold a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, ideally complemented by CPA K, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting credentials (or be actively working toward them). You'll bring a minimum of three years' experience in dynamic accounting or finance environments, having managed complete monthly accounting cycles independently. Your technical expertise spans IFRS, Kenyan tax legislation, financial reporting, and reconciliation procedures.
You're proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Excel, with exposure to Jedox or similar financial reporting platforms representing a valuable asset. Experience in leasing, automotive, logistics, or other capital-intensive sectors is highly desirable. Strong analytical abilities, organizational discipline, and problem-solving capabilities enable you to juggle multiple priorities without compromising deadline delivery. Your communication and interpersonal excellence allow you to lead junior staff confidently and collaborate seamlessly across finance and operational teams. A demonstrated interest in applying AI tools to enhance finance and administrative processes sets you apart.
