ABOUT THE ROLE
Janus Continental Group is looking for a visionary Director of Learning and Development to champion our learning, leadership development, and service excellence initiatives across our Hospitality and Conservation portfolio. This is your chance to build transformational programmes that develop exceptional leaders, elevate guest experiences, and establish a thriving organisational culture across multiple brands and countries.
You will collaborate with operational leaders and our People and Culture team to design and implement comprehensive learning strategies, leadership development programmes, service excellence standards, and onboarding experiences that reinforce our brand promise and prepare our workforce for sustainable growth.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design and roll out a cohesive Learning, Leadership Development, and Service Excellence strategy that spans our entire Hospitality and Conservation operations. Develop and embed brand promises, service frameworks, and leadership models that drive consistent, differentiated guest experiences across all touchpoints. Build leadership capability through targeted coaching, management development programmes, workshops, and succession planning initiatives. Personally lead high-impact learning interventions, culture workshops, onboarding programmes, and leadership development sessions. Work alongside operational teams to strengthen service excellence and departmental capability through Train-the-Trainer models and structured learning pathways. Create career frameworks and internal academies that nurture talent pipelines and future leaders. Drive employee experience and values integration across all hospitality and conservation operations. Partner with business leaders on organisational development, change management, and capability-building initiatives. Establish learning governance systems and measurement frameworks that demonstrate clear business impact and programme effectiveness.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Fluency in Swahili and English is essential; French is advantageous. A bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Education, Organisational Development, Psychology, or a related field. Professional certification in Learning and Development, Coaching, Talent Management, Organisational Development, or Service Excellence is highly valued. Minimum ten years of progressive experience in Learning and Development, Talent Development, Organisational Development, or Hospitality Training. At least five years leading learning, leadership development, or culture programmes across multiple business units or geographic locations. Demonstrated experience within international hospitality brands. Proven track record designing leadership development programmes, learning frameworks, service excellence initiatives, and organisational culture programmes. Exceptional facilitation, coaching, stakeholder management, and influencing abilities. A commercial mindset with the ability to align learning initiatives with operational priorities and business outcomes. Comfort with regular travel across our portfolio.
