The Role Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer, the Finance Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across all core financial functions. This is a pivotal position responsible for driving financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing resources efficiently to support VisionFund Kenya's mission and long-term sustainability. You will oversee accounting operations, budgeting and budget control, financial analysis and reporting, funds management, treasury and cash management, and the strengthening of internal control systems. Key Responsibilities As Finance Manager, you will strengthen financial systems to ensure compliance with internal and external policies while maintaining timely and accurate financial statements and payments. You will develop and implement comprehensive budgeting systems, support departments in budget preparation, and deliver financial projections to guide management decision-making. Your analytical expertise will be demonstrated through training staff in financial ratio analysis, preparing insightful financial reports for management and stakeholders, and identifying performance gaps. You will prepare weekly cash flow and financial projections, analyze funding options and asset-liability exposures, and recommend appropriate treasury risk limits to ensure capital adequacy. A significant part of your role involves assessing and managing operational risks, designing and implementing robust internal control systems, and coordinating with external auditors to enhance accounting systems. Leading and mentoring the finance team will be essential to your success. You will set clear performance goals, conduct evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and foster a collaborative work environment that promotes professional development and high performance. Required Qualifications You must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, with a Master's Degree being highly desirable. Certification as a CPA (K) or ACCA member is required. You will bring a minimum of six years of relevant experience, including at least one year in a senior leadership role within microfinance, retail banking, or enterprise lending. What We're Looking For You demonstrate in-depth knowledge of banking principles, MFI industry practices, and current trends in microfinance and finance. Your proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, combined with familiarity in accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP, will be essential. You possess strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of driving performance and motivating teams to achieve ambitious goals. Your excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills make you adept at business development and stakeholder management. You are results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to act as a change agent, driving operational improvements and organizational growth. Your strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with high ethical standards and unwavering commitment to personal and organizational integrity, define your professional approach.
