FINANCE MANAGER - VISIONFUND KENYA
About the Role
VisionFund Kenya, a dynamic financial services organization and key investment of World Vision Kenya, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our growing team. You will report directly to the Chief Finance Officer and lead our financial operations across accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, treasury management, and internal controls. This is a fixed-term local position where you will drive financial integrity, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage resources strategically to support our mission of sustainable financial inclusion.
What You'll Do
Accounting and Financial Management
Lead the strengthening of financial systems to ensure strict compliance with internal and external policies. You will oversee timely and accurate financial statement preparation, manage fund disbursements, maintain comprehensive documentation, and resolve discrepancies through systematic reconciliation processes. Additionally, you will standardize how institutional financial data is presented across the organization.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
Develop and implement robust budgeting systems and procedures that guide departmental planning. Support teams in budget preparation, deliver financial projections to management, and forecast future financial conditions to enable informed decision-making. You will monitor actual performance against approved budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions to keep operations on track.
Financial Analysis and Strategic Reporting
Train staff in financial ratio analysis and industry benchmarking techniques. Analyze performance gaps, monitor key financial indicators, and prepare comprehensive financial reports for management and external stakeholders. Your insights will inform strategic decisions across the organization.
Treasury, Cash Flow, and Risk Management
Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and financial projections. Analyze available funding options while assessing associated risks and asset-liability exposures. You will recommend appropriate treasury risk limits, ensure capital adequacy compliance, and use scenario planning tools to mitigate organizational risks.
Business Planning and Performance Monitoring
Monitor how financial performance aligns with operational and business objectives. Assist in preparing and consolidating business plans across head office and branch locations, ensuring consistency with annual plans and tracking performance variance throughout the year.
Internal Controls and Risk Management
Assess and manage risks across key operational areas. Design and implement internal control systems that enhance financial security, coordinate with external auditors on their recommendations, and continuously enhance accounting systems to meet control requirements.
Team Leadership
Lead, supervise, and mentor the finance team toward high performance and professional growth. Set clear performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and create a collaborative work environment. You will build team capacity through targeted training and coaching initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Education and Professional Credentials
You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Master's Degree desirable). You must be a CPA(K) or ACCA qualified professional. A minimum of 6 years of relevant financial experience is required, with at least 1 year in a senior leadership role within microfinance, retail banking, or enterprise lending.
Key Skills and Competencies
You possess in-depth knowledge of banking principles, microfinance industry practices, and current finance trends. You are a strong leader with a proven track record of driving performance and motivating teams. Your communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are excellent, with demonstrated ability in business development and stakeholder management.
You demonstrate high performance in similar roles with emphasis on growth, measurable results, and team motivation. You act as a change agent, driving operational improvements and organizational growth. Your ethical standards are impeccable, with unwavering commitment to personal and organizational integrity.
You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiar with accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP. Your analytical and problem-solving abilities are strong. You possess a determined personality with initiative, perseverance, and the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively. You take responsibility seriously with a highly developed sense of professional ethics and are willing to fully embrace and uphold the organization's ideals and core values.
