KENYA CONSERVATION MEDIA CONSULTANT Wild Africa is seeking a dynamic Kenya Conservation Media Consultant to serve as our on-the-ground representative and drive conservation partnerships across the country. Founded by WildAid co-founder Peter Knights, OBE, Wild Africa is a mission-driven African NGO committed to becoming Africa's most effective conservation communicator. We work to inspire public support and political will to protect Africa's wildlife and wild spaces by amplifying the voices of African opinion leaders through a powerful network of media partners and diverse programming. ABOUT THE ROLE You will be the essential link between Wild Africa's production and programme teams and Kenya's key stakeholders, building and maintaining strategic partnerships with media outlets, government agencies, NGOs, and influential ambassadors. Your primary responsibilities will include researching and connecting with media leadership across television, radio, newspapers, billboards, PR and social media platforms, as well as identifying and engaging local ambassadors from music, sports, film, television, business, religion and government sectors. You will coordinate all logistics for local filming visits and production shoots, including public service announcements and documentary content. You will engage directly with government ministries, national parks, wildlife authorities, tourism bodies, customs and police to ensure Wild Africa's campaigns gain the necessary support and access. Your role requires you to represent Wild Africa in local media engagements and interviews, track stakeholder commitments and deliverables, identify and escalate any risks or challenges, and provide weekly progress updates to the wider team. This is a fast-paced position that demands flexibility, responsiveness and comfort with periodic travel within Kenya and potentially the wider region, sometimes on tight timelines. You will need to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, solve problems with urgency and confidence, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders from various sectors. ABOUT YOU You are a highly organised, proactive individual with a genuine passion for conservation and a drive to create meaningful impact in Africa. You possess strong relationship-building and communication skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to thrive in dynamic, collaborative environments. Your background likely includes experience in media, communications, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, project coordination or conservation work. You demonstrate professional initiative and consistent follow-through, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities in both English and Swahili. You are self-motivated and adaptable, comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with remote teams. You excel at identifying problems quickly, anticipating potential issues and implementing practical solutions. You take pride in your organisational skills, project management capabilities, and attention to detail. KEY REQUIREMENTS You must have five or more years of relevant professional experience in communications, partnerships, media, stakeholder engagement, project coordination or related fields across Africa. Your background should demonstrate experience working in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments with increasing levels of responsibility. You will have demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in wildlife conservation. Professional proficiency in both English and Swahili is essential. Understanding of production processes and social media platforms is highly desirable. You must possess excellent organisational and project management skills, alongside strong writing and project reporting abilities. POSITION DETAILS This role is initially structured on a consultancy day-rate basis with the potential to transition to a longer-term monthly arrangement as the project develops. Remuneration will be competitive within the non-profit sector and will depend on your experience, qualifications and location.
