310 KONE Kenya Ltd is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Maintenance Technician to join the Service team in Nairobi. As a leading provider of elevator, escalator, and automatic building door solutions, KONE is committed to improving urban mobility and ensuring that people move safely and conveniently every day. In this position, you will play a vital role in maintaining critical building infrastructure while building lasting relationships with our diverse customer base.
What You'll Do
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include delivering exceptional service through proactive on-site communication and maintaining equipment in accordance with KONE's rigorous maintenance standards and safety protocols. You will conduct preventive maintenance activities, accurately document all work performed, and maintain meticulous service records. Managing customer relationships across various touchpoints is central to this role – you will interact professionally with site contacts, end-users, and facility managers to ensure their complete satisfaction.
Safety is paramount in this position. You will identify potential site risks, report safety concerns promptly, and maintain a secure working environment during all service operations. Additionally, you will assess equipment conditions to identify unplanned repairs, secure customer approval for work outside existing contracts, and execute those repairs efficiently. Your administrative duties include submitting accurate timesheets and service documentation on schedule while supporting the team's performance targets in service quality and customer satisfaction.
What We're Looking For
You should hold a Vocational Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification. A minimum of three years' experience maintaining elevators and escalators is essential for this role. While KONE equipment experience is valued, we also appreciate hands-on experience with competing systems.
Strong communication and customer service abilities are critical, as is basic competency with IT systems and digital service reporting tools. You must be comfortable and willing to perform service calls via motorcycle and possess solid troubleshooting capabilities with a proactive problem-solving mindset. Above all, you should demonstrate a genuine commitment to safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
