Public Works Laborer

PUBLIC WORKS LABORER Southaven Parks Department ABOUT THE ROLE Join Southaven's dedicated Public Works team and play a vital role in maintaining the city's infrastructure and public spaces. As a Public Works Laborer, you'll be responsible for keeping Southaven's streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and municipal properties in excellent condition. This is hands-on work that directly impacts the community you serve. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Your day-to-day duties will include: Receiving and executing work orders and instructions from supervisors Grass cutting and lawn maintenance across city properties Operating specialized equipment safely and effectively Maintaining street intersections and public spaces Repairing streets and sidewalks using asphalt, cold patch materials, and concrete Maintaining and cleaning storm sewer drains and curbs Installing, removing, and replacing street and traffic signs as needed Clearing hazardous or significant debris from city streets Supporting snow and ice removal operations during winter months Coordinating with contractors on street lighting and traffic signal projects Performing routine cleaning and maintenance of city vehicles Conducting preventative equipment maintenance relevant to assigned duties WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Minimum age of 18 years Valid driver's license Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening Physical capability to perform manual labor and operate equipment COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary: KES 16.75 per hour (based on qualifications) Comprehensive employee health insurance at no cost to you Optional spouse and family health insurance coverage Life insurance up to KES 25,000 Participation in the Public Retirement System (8-year vesting period) Pension benefits of 60% based on highest 4-year average salary after 30 years of service Complete safety equipment and uniforms provided, including footwear APPLICATION STATUS Position Status: Open Until Filled Apply online to begin your career with Southaven Parks Department today.
