SECURITY ASSISTANT, G-5, THREE-MONTH ASSIGNMENT, NAIROBI, KENYA UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN'S FUND (UNICEF) About the Role UNICEF is recruiting a Security Assistant to join our security operations team in Nairobi. Working under the supervision of the Security Associate (G-6), you will provide essential technical, operational, and administrative support to the Country Field Security Advisor and our Security Section. This is a three-month contract position offering the chance to contribute meaningfully to the safety and security of UNICEF personnel and operations across Kenya. Your Primary Impact As a Security Assistant, you will work directly on initiatives that protect UNICEF staff members and eligible family members throughout Kenya, safeguard our organizational assets and premises, support the secure delivery of our programmes, and ensure strict compliance with UN security policies and standards. Your responsibilities will span four core areas: Security Planning, Safety and Security Services, Security Coordination and Networking, and Knowledge Management and Capacity Building. What You Bring To succeed in this position, you must have a secondary education qualification in a related field and a minimum of five years of professional experience in security, security management, risk management, emergency response, physical security, incident management, field operations, stakeholder coordination, safety compliance, training and capacity building, travel security, or related disciplines. You should demonstrate strong competency in security information, analytical thinking, communication, coordination, planning, and reporting. Fluency in English is essential. Additional strengths we value include knowledge of other official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or local languages, familiarity with humanitarian operations, residential security protocols, incident reporting systems, MOSS platforms, contingency planning, and vehicle tracking systems. Experience working at country level in development settings, fragile environments, or humanitarian contexts is highly advantageous.
