SENIOR DRIVER/CLERK AT UNDP
About This Role
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Senior Driver/Clerk to join its operations team. You'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth logistics and transportation services, supporting senior leadership and UN officials across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation and Mobility Services
You'll provide safe and reliable driving services using office vehicles, with primary responsibility for transporting the Regional Director, resilience hub staff, and visiting UN officials and dignitaries. You'll also manage airport pickups and passenger assistance, including support with customs procedures when necessary.
Document and Mail Services
Beyond driving duties, you'll handle the collection, sorting, and timely delivery of office correspondence and documents, serving as a key messenger within the organization's communication flow.
Vehicle Maintenance and Cost Efficiency
You'll take ownership of your assigned vehicle's upkeep and performance. This includes maintaining comprehensive daily vehicle logs, coordinating with maintenance teams on repair schedules, performing routine servicing such as oil changes and tire inspections, and ensuring the vehicle meets all safety standards. You'll also contribute to the development of vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
Vehicle Readiness and Compliance
It's your responsibility to ensure the assigned vehicle is always equipped with required documentation including current insurance papers, vehicle logs, city maps, and a fully stocked first aid kit. You'll also guarantee compliance with UNDP's Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) and all relevant vehicle management policies.
Safety and Incident Management
In the event of any accident or traffic incident, you'll take immediate corrective action according to local regulations and organizational protocols, and report the situation appropriately.
Administrative Support
You may assist with additional clerical tasks including pouch management, workshop coordination, and general administrative support as needed.
Qualifications Required
Education
Valid driver's license and completion of secondary education required.
Professional Experience
Minimum three years of professional driving experience with a demonstrated safe driving record. You must have solid knowledge of driving regulations, traffic laws, and road safety requirements, plus competency in basic vehicle repair and maintenance tasks.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with standard computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with web-based management systems, electronic logging platforms, and digital scheduling systems is essential.
Additional Advantages
Prior experience with security protocols and UN operational requirements is a valuable asset for this position.
