JOB TITLE: Chief Program Officer COMPANY: Shining Hope For Communities (SHOFCO) LOCATION: Nairobi, Kenya REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer ABOUT SHOFCO Shining Hope For Communities began in 2004 when Kennedy Odede, a Kibera resident, used spare change from factory work to purchase a soccer ball. The informal conversations that followed the games sparked something bigger. Today, SHOFCO has grown into a transformative force reaching 2.5 million people across 40 of Kenya's 47 counties. The organization operates Kenya's largest network of community social groups through the SHOFCO Urban Network (SUN), which boasts over 2 million members. SHOFCO stands as the nation's largest non-governmental provider of girls' scholarships and has pioneered innovative infrastructure solutions, including Kenya's first aerial water piping system in an informal settlement, currently serving 37,500 people daily. The organization is advancing toward becoming Kenya's first licensed water company to formally serve an informal settlement. SHOFCO's impact has earned international recognition, including the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, the world's most prestigious humanitarian award. The organization continues to demonstrate that community-led solutions can create lasting change across urban Kenya. THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a Chief Program Officer to lead our program strategy and execution across our expanding portfolio of work in education, water and sanitation, healthcare, economic empowerment, and community organizing throughout Kenya.
