SOKIFY JOB ALERT Position: Education Specialist Organization: United Nations Volunteers (UNICEF) Duty Station: Nairobi Centre of Excellence ABOUT THE ROLE Join UNICEF's Global Education Practice Team and make a meaningful impact across more than 190 countries and territories. This position offers you the opportunity to champion educational equity and inclusion at a global scale, working directly to ensure that every child—especially the most marginalized and excluded—has access to quality education and support systems that enable them to thrive. As an Education Specialist, you will work under the guidance of the Senior Advisor for Education (Gender, Equity and Inclusion) to tackle critical challenges including out-of-school children, educational barriers, and the interconnected issues that affect learning outcomes. Your work will bridge education with complementary sectors including health, nutrition, water and sanitation, child protection, and climate action, demonstrating how holistic approaches create sustainable change. WHAT YOU WILL DO Provide hands-on technical assistance to UNICEF Country Offices on strategies to reach out-of-school children and strengthen inclusive education practices that benefit the most vulnerable populations. Lead research initiatives that uncover and analyze inequities in learning outcomes, informing evidence-based policy development. Coordinate a global webinar series focused on education equity and inclusion, fostering knowledge sharing among international stakeholders. Drive cross-sectoral collaboration by participating in the UNICEF Internal Coordination Group on School Health and Wellbeing, building bridges between education and other critical development areas. Contribute to the development of comprehensive UNICEF Programme Guidance and co-create an Investment Case on School Health and Wellbeing in partnership with the Foundational Learning Network. Support additional strategic initiatives that advance UNICEF's commitment to global education equity. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Master's degree in Education or a related social science field Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience with a strong track record in education for marginalized or out-of-school children. Demonstrated expertise in cross-sectoral programming, ideally gained in developing country contexts. Language Requirements: Fluent English proficiency is essential. Working knowledge of French is desirable. Core Competencies: Advanced analytical, research, and writing abilities. Proven effectiveness working within diverse international teams and collaborating with country-based offices. Strong capacity to navigate complex political and cultural contexts with sensitivity. Exceptional communication and reporting skills. Ability to operate independently while remaining collaborative in multicultural professional environments. SUPPORT & COMPENSATION Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance: US$ 2,740 to US$ 3,190 UN Volunteers receive a comprehensive benefits package designed to ensure financial security and a sustainable standard of living at your duty station. The living allowance is provided as support for your service rather than as compensation.
