COUNTRY MANAGER KENYA Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc. POSITION OVERVIEW Johnson & Johnson is recruiting an experienced and driven Country Manager to lead our operations in Kenya from our Nairobi office. In this enterprise management role, you will oversee all business functions and drive significant growth across our Innovative Medicine portfolio, with particular focus on oncology, mental health, and immunology therapeutic areas. You will be the key leader responsible for translating our global vision into local market success while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and patient-centric innovation. THE ROLE As Country Manager Kenya, you will own complete accountability for delivering business results and accelerating market growth. Your responsibilities encompass establishing and achieving country sales objectives aligned with portfolio potential and regional targets, optimizing resource allocation through strategic budgeting, and overseeing all team activities across sales, medical, regulatory, marketing, and market access functions. You will sustain and grow sales of our current therapeutic portfolio through effective distributor partnerships, inventory management, and comprehensive reporting and alignment. You will also lead the launch execution of innovative new products, managing regulatory submissions, market access strategies, tender negotiations, and medical education initiatives. Your role requires deep analysis of local market insights to identify opportunities and risks, enabling early intervention and corrective action when needed. Driving our mental health initiative will be a key priority, alongside building and coaching a high-performing local team. You will establish the optimal working environment, instill a Johnson & Johnson mindset across all functions, and take ownership of recruitment, talent development, and succession planning. Through exemplary leadership behaviors and consistent role modeling, you will strengthen our company reputation and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, medical associations, government bodies, and pharmaceutical industry stakeholders. COMPLIANCE AND GOVERNANCE You will ensure full compliance with all local legislation, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Healthcare Business Integrity guidelines, and our Policy on Business Conduct. You will maintain inspection readiness standards, ensure proper understanding and application of fair market value and transfer of value regulations, and oversee local adaptation of promotional materials. Timely adverse event and product quality complaint reporting according to pharmacovigilance guidelines will be non-negotiable, alongside all safety reporting requirements outlined in company policies and standard operating procedures. KEY QUALIFICATIONS You must hold a minimum bachelor's degree, with an MBA or life sciences advanced degree strongly preferred. You will bring seven to ten years of progressive commercial experience, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry, with some professional experience or education outside Kenya valued highly. Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in Swahili or other local languages is required. You must demonstrate significant experience working within highly matrixed environments and cross-functional teams, with proven line management and leadership responsibility. Strong capabilities in forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management are essential. You will possess an entrepreneurial, self-starting mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities, strong planning and prioritization skills, and outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation capabilities. Essential to success in this role are exceptional interpersonal skills, robust stakeholder management abilities, and demonstrated commitment to business ethics and integrity.
