Position Overview
Sokify brings you an exciting opportunity to join Sightsavers, a global organisation working across more than 30 countries in Africa and South Asia to eliminate avoidable blindness and advance the rights of people with disabilities.
This is a strategic leadership role designed for a skilled professional ready to drive digital inclusion and employment opportunities for young people with disabilities across East, West, and Southern Africa. As Global Technical Lead, you will guide the delivery of a multi-country programme while championing disability inclusion within workplaces and labour markets spanning seven African nations.

Travel Requirement: Up to 12 weeks per year
What You'll Do
Lead strategic technical guidance for a multi-country digital skills and employment programme targeting young people with disabilities, while promoting workplace inclusion across regional labour markets.
Work alongside fellow Global Technical Leads and partner organisations to deliver coordinated, impactful results across programme objectives.
Identify and pilot innovative strategic approaches that strengthen the quality, relevance, and long-term sustainability of initiatives.
Contribute to research, innovation, policy work, advocacy, and communications through collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
Serve as Sightsavers' subject matter expert on digital inclusion and the digital economy at senior forums, regional networks, international conferences, and sector platforms.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Master's degree or higher qualification (PhD preferred) in digital economy, digital policy, digital or economic sociology, political economy, development studies, global labour studies, or equivalent professional experience.
Deep understanding of current discourse surrounding AI and digital technologies, with clear knowledge of implications for skills development, employment, decent work standards, and labour markets across African and Global South regions.
Proven track record leading and developing programmes in digital skills training and employment transition, particularly within global South contexts.
Experience managing programmes within NGO or non-profit settings, with demonstrated competency in overseeing donor-funded projects.
Established ability to engage diverse labour market stakeholders, particularly private sector organisations, to advance employment and decent work outcomes.
Expertise in contemporary AI and digital technology developments and their effects on employment and labour markets in African and Global South settings.
Excellent command of spoken and written English, with capability to write comprehensive reports and deliver compelling presentations.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, comfortable planning at both programme and organisational levels.
Demonstrated leadership excellence, strong networking capacity, and stakeholder engagement skills delivered with diplomacy and professionalism.
Practical experience with TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) systems.
History of meaningful engagement with tripartite labour market stakeholders, particularly private sector partners in digital industries, to improve employment and decent work standards.
Proven collaborative approach and effectiveness working across departments and within diverse team environments.
Experience developing, customising, and implementing technical guidance and programming tools.
Genuine commitment to advancing disability inclusion, equality, and justice within digital and employment sectors.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 12 weeks annually.
Desirable Qualifications
Advocacy experience supporting marginalised communities, particularly in disability inclusion initiatives.
French language proficiency.
