The Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) is an established international non-governmental organization founded in Paris in 1993. Operating across humanitarian, development, and advocacy spheres, ACTED has maintained a registered presence in Kenya since 2004. The organization operates from a national office in Nairobi, coordinating with partners, staff members, and operational initiatives across multiple counties throughout Kenya.
ACTED's operational framework in Kenya centers on the 3ZERO approach, which addresses three critical areas: ZERO Exclusion, ZERO Carbon, and ZERO Poverty. This methodology acknowledges the interconnected nature of poverty, social exclusion, marginalization, and climate-related challenges. The organization's work in Kenya concentrates on three primary objectives: reducing poverty levels, fostering social inclusion and cohesion, and enhancing community resilience to climate impacts through comprehensive, integrated programming.
Key focus areas include strengthening the capacity of local civil society organizations to lead and implement humanitarian initiatives, building climate resilience by restoring and rehabilitating degraded ecosystems in partnership with communities, and identifying and scaling innovative entrepreneurial solutions to address systemic challenges.
This internship position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful development work while gaining practical experience in the human resources and administration functions of an international development organization.
