POSITION OVERVIEW
Join the United Nations Office at Nairobi as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer specializing in Anticipatory Approach. You will be based in the Regional Office for Southern and Eastern Africa (ROSEA) within the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). This is a temporary position dedicated to scaling up and mainstreaming anticipatory humanitarian approaches across the region. OCHA serves as the coordinating body within the UN Secretariat responsible for unifying humanitarian actors to deliver coherent emergency responses. The office mobilizes and coordinates effective, principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international organizations to reduce human suffering during disasters and emergencies, protect the rights of vulnerable populations, strengthen disaster preparedness and prevention initiatives, and support sustainable recovery solutions.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Head of ROSEA through the relevant section chief, with a secondary reporting relationship to the Climate and Innovation Section within OCHA's Financing and Outreach Division.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You will drive the integration and expansion of anticipatory approaches to humanitarian response across Southern and Eastern Africa, ensuring proactive rather than reactive assistance reaches vulnerable communities.
