The organization specializes in establishing pharmaceutical quality standards, supporting manufacturers in low-to-middle income countries to meet international requirements, advancing regulatory compliance, and strengthening pharmaceutical ecosystems globally.
THE ROLE
USP Kenya is seeking an experienced Information Technology Consultant to provide comprehensive Level-2 IT support services to its growing office. As an outsourced service provider, you will be the backbone of the organization's technology infrastructure, delivering ad-hoc technical support to approximately eight staff members, with potential to scale based on project needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will manage all aspects of IT infrastructure including hardware and network monitoring, computer system installation and configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and networking issues. Your role encompasses setting up client computers with proper user account registration and network access, creating detailed procedural documentation, and maintaining comprehensive historical records of all technical work performed.
Additional responsibilities include ensuring proper operation of IT equipment and implementing backup routines for data security, providing technology procurement advice, and maintaining strict confidentiality to protect organizational operations. You will serve as the first point of contact for technology-related challenges and ensure timely resolution or appropriate escalation to third-party specialists when needed.
SERVICES PROVIDED
Your support will cover extensive ground across the organization's technology ecosystem. Hardware support includes on-site assistance for workstations and laptops, equipment installation and maintenance, and support for multifunctional printers and scanning systems. Network services encompass infrastructure management, wireless and intranetworking setup, router and switch configuration, firewall management, security system support, and comprehensive cabling solutions.
PERFORMANCE FRAMEWORK
Service requests receive priority coding from 1 to 4 based on business impact and workaround availability. Critical issues with no workarounds require 30-minute initial response and 8-hour resolution. Important issues or critical problems with workarounds also require 30-minute response and 8-hour resolution. Functionality diminishment issues require 1-hour response and 2-calendar-day resolution. Supportive function issues require 1-hour response and 4-calendar-day resolution.
ENGAGEMENT TERMS
This is a flexible, occasional engagement spanning approximately three years, allowing you to manage workload according to project demands and organizational needs.
