ABOUT THE ROLE
Sokify is advertising an exciting opportunity for a Motor Assessor with Absa General Insurance Co Kenya Limited. In this position, you will be the critical technical expert within the Claims Department's Motor Assessment section, delivering precise vehicle damage evaluations and fair settlement recommendations. Your work ensures that customers receive prompt, equitable service while protecting the company's financial interests through rigorous technical assessment and fraud detection.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will inspect and assess vehicle damages with accuracy, evaluating repair costs to ensure they remain competitive and reasonable. Your detailed assessment reports will recommend settlements that align with policy guidelines, providing clear justification for your decisions. You will work collaboratively with repair garages to negotiate fair pricing and maintain quality standards.
As part of your role, you will review external assessors' work to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate unnecessary expenses. You will identify and investigate potential fraudulent claims or misrepresentations, managing technical disputes and conducting post-repair inspections to verify work quality. You will maintain strict compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal standards while meeting established service level agreements for claims processing.
You will also contribute to continuous improvement by recommending process enhancements within the motor assessment section and staying current with emerging trends in automotive technology and motor insurance practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
You must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. You need a minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience gained in an insurance company, automotive repair workshop, or recognized motor assessment firm.
Professional certifications are essential. You should hold ACII (Chartered Insurance Institute), a Diploma in Insurance from the UK, or AIIK Diploma in Insurance from Kenya, or be actively pursuing either qualification. You must also possess a Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce and Management Studies.
