Job Description
ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Light for the World International
POSITION OVERVIEW
Light for the World International seeks an experienced Organisational Development Specialist to lead transformational change across our multi-country operations. This is a hands-on role where you'll shape how our global teams work, develop talent, and embrace new ways of operating. You'll combine strategic change management with broader OD priorities including performance systems, leadership development, and capability building. If you're energised by complex, cross-cultural environments and want your work to directly support our mission-driven impact, this opportunity awaits you.
LOCATION AND EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
Based in Nairobi, Kenya. Full-time, permanent position. Annual gross salary: KES 4,680,000 (market rates apply in other locations). Start date: 1 July 2026.
Note: Applicants must already hold a valid work permit or visa for Kenya to be considered for this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead end-to-end change management across Light for the World's global and regional initiatives, managing everything from stakeholder analysis and planning through to adoption and sustainability.
Design and tailor change strategies, communication plans, and engagement approaches that reflect the diverse contexts, cultures, and operating models across our countries of operation.
Coach and mentor senior leaders and managers to effectively sponsor and champion organisational changes within their teams.
Recognise resistance patterns early, address them with practical solutions, and maintain momentum on critical transitions.
Strengthen Light for the World's internal change capability so the organisation becomes increasingly self-sufficient in managing transformation.
Own the global performance management framework including goal-setting, feedback cycles, annual reviews, and performance improvement processes, adapting it as our organisation evolves.
Develop and maintain competency frameworks for leadership and functional roles that define excellence within Light for the World's context.
Design and deliver leadership development programmes and learning initiatives across regions, connecting development to real organisational needs.
Support succession planning and talent pipeline development through strategic insight and targeted interventions.
Use people analytics to identify trends, evaluate programme effectiveness, and provide leaders with data-driven insights for decision-making.
Contextualise global frameworks for regional implementation, recognising that approaches effective in one location require adjustment for another.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Five to seven years of dedicated change management, organisational development, or related people and culture experience, with change management as a central focus rather than a supplementary responsibility.
Demonstrated success leading organisational change initiatives from conception through embedding, including stakeholder engagement, resistance management, and adoption planning.
Strong facilitation and influencing abilities in multicultural, multi-country settings.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and developing approaches in real-time without rigid frameworks.
Fluent English communication, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with formal change methodologies such as Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter, or equivalent approaches. We value practical judgement over certification credentials.
Background in international NGOs, development organisations, or similar mission-driven, matrix-structured environments.
Working knowledge of HRIS platforms, learning management systems, or performance management software.
WHY JOIN US
You'll be part of a purpose-driven team that values your expertise and sees you as a partner in shaping how we operate globally.
Access meaningful work with an international development organisation recognised for strong expertise and growing impact.
Enjoy genuine flexibility, including flexible working hours and home office options, with genuine commitment to work-life balance.
Contribute your ideas in a participatory leadership environment where your perspective shapes decisions.
Grow through a culture that embraces learning from challenges and continuous professional development.
Collaborate with colleagues who are invested in helping you excel both individually and as part of our team.
