Job Description

ORIGIN COFFEE TRAINEE PROGRAM - KENYA, UGANDA & TANZANIA ABOUT NEUMANN KAFFEE GRUPPE (NKG) Neumann Kaffee Gruppe is the world's foremost green coffee service group, dedicated to building sustainable, responsible coffee commerce across all corners of the globe. With over 3,300 professionals in 28 countries, we operate with unwavering commitment to coffee excellence throughout the entire supply chain. Ibero Kenya Limited, part of the NKG family, stands among Kenya's leading green coffee exporters, recognized for premium quality and supply chain transparency. We're proud to be certified as a Great Place to Work, embodying values of trust, collaboration, and respect in everything we do. THE OPPORTUNITY We're seeking three exceptional Origin Trainees—based one each in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda—to join our East Africa team through our prestigious Origin Trainee Program. This 24-month structured initiative develops the next generation of coffee leaders through immersive rotations, mentorship, and real-world project ownership. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN AND DO Your journey spans five core operational pillars. In Procurement and Quality, you'll master sourcing, supplier relationships, cupping, and grading through long-term producer connections. Through Sustainability and Compliance, you'll gain expertise in traceability, certifications, ESG standards, and EUDR compliance. Trading and Market Analysis introduces you to futures, options, price risk management, and supply-demand dynamics. Logistics and Export Operations covers shipment planning, documentation, and customer delivery. Finance and Accounting develops your ability to analyze margins, working capital, trade finance, profit-loss statements, and capital expenditure. Your program culminates in a Capstone Project—a real business challenge you identify, develop, and present to senior leadership. Past trainees have expanded market sales, deployed technology for operational gains, or spearheaded sustainability initiatives benefiting coffee farming communities. KEY PROGRAM FEATURES A defining highlight is embedded placement in an NKG destination-market office abroad, where you'll observe how roasters and customers evaluate quality, negotiate contracts, and plan purchases. This international exposure demonstrates how origin-level decisions directly influence downstream customer outcomes, broadening your end-to-end supply chain perspective. You'll work alongside NKG trading, sales, and logistics professionals in that market, building cross-border relationships essential for balancing producer and customer priorities. Upon return to your home origin, you'll carry enhanced commercial acumen and networks that position you as a future leader. Structured mentorship from experienced NKG experts in sourcing, trade, quality, logistics, and customer delivery guides your development. You'll also complete leadership training grounded in NKG values—Service, Excellence, Integrity, Responsibility, Respect, and Courage—focusing on self-leadership, collaboration, feedback, accountability, and ownership. WHO YOU ARE You're a recent graduate (within two years) holding a degree in Agribusiness, Economics, or Finance—a master's degree strengthens your candidacy. You bring maximum two years of prior work experience, clear leadership potential for future management roles, demonstrated professional integrity, and willingness to be based in-country with regional and international travel flexibility. English fluency is essential; Kiswahili or Luganda proficiency is valued, but commitment to learning local languages is equally important. WHAT MAKES YOU THRIVE You possess exceptional interpersonal skills in this relationship-driven sector, building trust with producers, partners, and customers. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities combine with genuine curiosity about coffee and commodity markets. You're adaptable, resilient, comfortable working across diverse cultures and geographies, and respectful of different perspectives. WHY JOIN US Work in an international, progressive environment alongside talented teams from diverse backgrounds. Enjoy competitive compensation with attractive benefits, flexible working hours, and mobile work options. Contribute meaningfully from day one to projects strengthening coffee quality, operational efficiency, sustainable sourcing, and farmer livelihoods across the East African coffee value chain. Ready to launch your career in global coffee commerce? Apply now and specify your preferred country location—Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda.
