Job Description

People Operations - Advisor Join A.P. Moller - Maersk's dynamic People Operations team based in Nairobi, Kenya. We're seeking a People Operations Advisor who is genuinely passionate about creating exceptional employee experiences, solving problems creatively, and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. What You'll Do Become the Go-To HR Resource You'll be the first person employees turn to for HR support across multiple channels including case management, live chat, phone calls, and face-to-face conversations. Your role involves explaining HR policies, guiding employees through our processes, and ensuring they understand our HR systems. You'll shepherd employees through their entire journey with us—from recruitment through to retirement—while handling all necessary compliance requirements and documentation with care and attention. Connect and Support In Person Beyond desk-based work, you'll provide hands-on People Operations support at our Nairobi location. You'll represent our People Operations Advisory team at employee events, town halls, and career development fairs, building meaningful relationships throughout the organization. You'll play an active role in local engagement initiatives and wellbeing programs, staying visible and approachable across the business. Through facilitation of engagement activities, awareness sessions, and local people initiatives, you'll help strengthen our workplace culture and foster genuine connections. Manage the People Operations Backbone You'll coordinate a wide range of administrative functions that keep our people operations running smoothly. This includes managing employee records, producing HR reports, supporting payroll processes, and maintaining data accuracy. You'll work across departments—collaborating with Payroll, Rewards, People Partners, and other functions—to ensure seamless service delivery. Acting as a bridge between employees, internal teams, and external vendors, you'll resolve matters efficiently while maintaining data integrity in our Workday system through regular audits and quality checks. Champion Innovation and Improvement You'll actively contribute to making our processes better by identifying trends from case management data, spotting opportunities for enhancement, and recommending smarter ways of working. You'll support process simplification, automation efforts, and digital transformation initiatives while sharing knowledge and fostering continuous learning within your team. As new policies, processes, and system updates roll out, you'll help drive successful implementation across our region. Collaborate Across Africa, IMEA, and Beyond You'll support regional and global People Operations projects, working closely with colleagues across all regions to deliver consistent, high-quality people services. Your willingness to take on additional responsibilities and contribute to organizational transformation, compliance projects, and change management initiatives will be valued. What We're Looking For You bring a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred) plus at least two years of professional experience in Human Resources, People Operations, Shared Services, or a comparable HR advisory role. You possess strong customer service abilities, excellent communication skills, and genuine talent for building relationships across all levels. You approach work with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment. You're naturally well-organized, meticulous about detail, and capable of juggling multiple priorities without losing focus. Your analytical skills are solid, and you're comfortable working with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Workday or similar Human Capital Management systems is a real advantage. You thrive working independently while seamlessly collaborating with teams across regions and time zones. About A.P.
