Job Description
PROGRAMME QUALITY AND DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL
SOS Children's Villages International
ABOUT THE ROLE
Join SOS Children's Villages International as a Programme Quality and Development Professional, supporting our Unit MA Development and Support function. This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple regions including Vienna, Nairobi, Skopje, Amman, Faridabad, La Paz, and Dakar, enhancing programme quality and implementation standards globally.
You will serve as a crucial bridge between our international headquarters and Member Associations, providing technical guidance that ensures all programmes reflect evidence-based practice and organisational standards. Working with programme teams, you will strengthen capacity, facilitate learning, and drive continuous improvement across alternative care, family strengthening, and community empowerment initiatives.
ABOUT SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGES
Since 1949, SOS Children's Villages has been the world's largest non-governmental organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people without parental care or at risk of losing it. Operating in over 130 countries and territories, we work locally to strengthen families under pressure and prevent separation where possible. When alternative care is needed, we ensure quality support tailored to each child's unique circumstances. Through partnership with communities, donors, and the children and families we serve, we enable young people to develop the bonds they need to become their strongest selves, while advocating globally for children's rights.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will provide technical support to Member Association programme staff in assigned thematic areas, ensuring full alignment with organisational standards and international guidance. Your responsibilities include delivering training and capacity-building workshops that strengthen programme quality knowledge among MA teams.
You will support the implementation and monitoring of quality standards across all supported Member Associations, identifying gaps and reporting risks promptly. During project design and proposal development processes, you will offer technical input and coordinate quality assurance reviews with your supervisor.
A key aspect of your work involves helping Member Associations adapt federation quality requirements to their local contexts while maintaining established standards. You will actively contribute to documenting practices, lessons learned, and programme improvements that feed into organisational learning systems.
You will support the development and rollout of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning tools within MA support departments and across Member Associations. You will facilitate peer learning exchanges and learning sessions, capturing and sharing good practices that strengthen the network.
Supporting the development and adaptation of tools, guidance materials and templates forms another important responsibility, with emphasis on ensuring effective implementation within MAs. During programme transitions or pilots, you will provide dedicated support to teams navigating change.
You will participate in external technical forums and knowledge networks as required, contributing to broader learning processes while maintaining appropriate boundaries around representational responsibilities.
SAFEGUARDING COMMITMENT
As a team member, you will help create and maintain a safe, protective environment for all staff and programme participants. You commit to upholding our Code of Conduct, actively reflecting on safeguarding implications in your work, and participating fully in team risk identification and mitigation discussions.
KEY REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in development, social work, public health, or related field; or equivalent professional experience demonstrating expertise in programme quality and development.
Proven experience providing technical support in programme development, quality assurance, or capacity strengthening within development or humanitarian contexts.
Strong knowledge of alternative care, family strengthening, or community development programming.
