Job Description
REGIONAL PARTNER, AFRICA - ACCION DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
About This Role:
Accion Impact Management LLC manages Accion's investment platform focused on financial inclusion, leveraging third-party capital to drive impact. As a registered investment adviser with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, we work across multiple investment strategies to bring high-quality, affordable financial services to people currently excluded from the formal financial system.
Accion Digital Transformation invests in financial service providers scaling through innovation and technology. We provide growth capital and strategic guidance to institutions undergoing digital transformation, enabling them to serve underbanked populations more effectively while improving operational efficiency.
Your Opportunity:
You'll serve as our Africa Regional Partner, leading our investment initiatives across the continent. This is a strategic role that combines deep investment expertise with hands-on portfolio management. You'll oversee the complete investment lifecycle—from identifying promising opportunities through successful exits—while guiding portfolio companies through digital transformation strategies that expand financial inclusion for MSMEs, smallholder farmers, and low-income households.
Your expertise in regulated financial institutions and emerging market private equity will be crucial as you manage roughly 25% of our total investible capital across Africa. You'll collaborate with our Operating Partner, advisory teams, and portfolio company leadership to shape digitization strategies that create sustainable value. Depending on portfolio scale and regional opportunities, you may mentor an Investment Analyst.
What You'll Do:
Source and analyze investment targets aligned with our impact mission and digitalization focus, developing detailed financial models and valuations for Investment Committee review. Lead deal negotiations and execution while ensuring ESG compliance throughout the investment lifecycle. Manage our growing portfolio, oversee responsible exit strategies, and partner with the digital transformation team to develop and implement digitization strategies as a key value creation lever.
Provide strategic advisory support to portfolio companies on partnerships, financing, and major decisions—particularly around ESG and digital innovation—serving on boards as appropriate. Build co-investment consortia and strengthen relationships with co-investors to expand our reach. Support Operations and Finance teams on valuation reporting, maintain strong internal culture alongside Managing Partners, and represent Accion Digital Transformation in market development and professional knowledge-sharing activities. You'll also support investor relations and due diligence activities with potential investors.
Your Background:
You bring 15 years of progressive private equity experience focused on financial institutions and fintech, with a demonstrated track record of originating, leading, and exiting investments specifically in Africa. Your deep sector expertise spans financial services and technology, including operating models, regulatory environments, and competitive dynamics across African markets.
You've successfully defined and executed regional investment strategies, built proprietary pipelines, identified emerging themes, and aligned investment activity with organizational objectives. You have hands-on experience partnering with financial institutions to drive value creation, including designing and implementing digital strategies for financial inclusion—entrepreneurial background is a plus.
You're proven at influencing board and senior management decision-making as a trusted strategic advisor. Your advanced analytical skills and investment judgment are evident in your ability to lead complex due diligence, structure transactions, and manage portfolio performance for both financial and impact returns. You excel at building networks across peers, stakeholders, and decision makers, with demonstrated leadership capability including mentoring investment professionals and contributing to collaborative, high-performance teams.
You communicate exceptionally well—both written and verbal—with executive presence, proven experience delivering senior-level presentations and investment materials. You operate autonomously while collaborating effectively in global, matrixed environments, and you embody values of Excellence, Respect, and Passion for Social Change.
Education and Requirements:
Master's degree in business or finance required. Fluent English communication essential; French language skills are valued. You're ready to travel within Africa and internationally approximately 25-35% of the time.
About Our Commitment:
Accion Impact Management is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome qualified applicants of all backgrounds and are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities.
