Job Description

SENIOR INVESTMENT OFFICER, CORPORATE FINANCE SERVICES (CFS) World Bank Group — International Finance Corporation (IFC) Nairobi, Kenya About This Role The International Finance Corporation, a cornerstone institution of the World Bank Group, is searching for an accomplished Senior Investment Officer to strengthen our Corporate Finance Services division across the Africa Region. This is a three-year international recruitment position offering the chance to drive transformative financial development initiatives that expand private sector investment in emerging markets. Corporate Finance Services represents a vital component of IFC's transaction advisory operations, having mobilized over $1.5 billion in FY25 alone. Your expertise will directly support our mission to unlock private capital for infrastructure, corporate restructuring, and equity mobilization across one of the world's most dynamic regions. What You'll Do Your responsibilities will span strategy development, transaction execution, and relationship management across multiple product lines. You will collaborate closely with regional teams to originate and execute buy-side and sell-side advisory mandates, with particular emphasis on equity mobilization and M&A services. As a pre-IPO advisory specialist, you will lead efforts to guide companies through listing processes on major international exchanges, providing guidance on corporate structure optimization, valuation, governance, and regulatory compliance. You will maintain strategic relationships with internal counterparts and external stakeholders throughout the Africa region, identifying collaboration opportunities that drive business development aligned with IFC's core objectives. Client engagement will be a cornerstone of your work—you will support clients in developing transaction strategies, conducting bankability assessments, undertaking financial modeling, and navigating restructuring initiatives. Additionally, you will oversee the preparation of critical transaction documentation including marketing materials, information memoranda, due diligence reports, and structuring proposals. Mentoring junior team members and strengthening IFC's brand positioning within the corporate finance advisory space round out your core accountabilities. Who You Are You bring a Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting, complemented by 12-15 years of directly relevant experience. Your background demonstrates deep seasoning in equity transactions—whether as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter within investment banking, venture capital, or private equity environments. Your transaction advisory expertise spans buy-side mandates, sell-side mandates, and restructuring work, ideally with exposure to disruptive technology sectors. You possess a proven track record of delivering M&A, restructuring, and IPO mandates under demanding timelines and challenging conditions. Experience taking companies public on premier international exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange or London Stock Exchange would strengthen your candidacy. Beyond technical capability, you demonstrate exceptional client relationship management skills and an established ability to execute mandates across borders and in complex environments. Your professional credibility is well-founded, your business judgment is superior, and your team collaboration is genuine. You communicate with clarity and precision in both written and verbal formats, and you are comfortable representing IFC externally while developing and managing relationships with clients, media, and stakeholders. Above all, you are deeply committed to development impact and alignment with the World Bank Group and IFC's mission and values.
