THE OPPORTUNITY
Visa is a global payments technology leader operating across more than 200 countries and territories, connecting consumers, merchants, financial institutions and government entities in seamless transactions. We're seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives across our Kenya market. In this role, you'll drive meaningful expansion, deepen relationships with key financial players, and help shape the future of payments in the region.
Your impact will extend across our issuing, acquiring and acceptance divisions, working with Tier 1 banks, fintech innovators, merchants and broader ecosystem partners. You'll provide essential leadership continuity for the Kenya team while executing defined market segments and high-value account strategies.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead business development efforts across assigned market segments and key client accounts, driving consultative, value-based selling approaches and robust pipeline development. Deepen strategic engagement with tier-one banks, fintech companies, merchants and ecosystem partners. Execute and support the rollout of strategic initiatives spanning issuing, acquiring and acceptance solutions. Provide leadership and continuity within the Kenya operations team. Expand coverage of high-value clients and market opportunities while building wallet share and strengthening client retention. Prioritize and execute market initiatives effectively, reducing operational bottlenecks and escalation risks. Own clear accountability for assigned accounts and programs. Coach, develop and manage your team to enhance performance, capability and resilience.
YOUR BACKGROUND
You bring 10 or more years of professional experience with a bachelor's degree, OR a minimum of 8 years with an advanced degree such as an MBA or Masters, OR at least 3 years with a PhD. A minimum of 6 years working in banking, financial services, payments, mobile networks or fintech sectors is essential, with demonstrable card payment experience. You hold a tertiary qualification preferably in business or marketing, with an MBA being advantageous. You're fluent in written and spoken Portuguese. You have the capability to engage, present to and collaborate effectively with senior international banking executives. You possess excellent knowledge of Visa, competing payment systems, card products and payment system activities across relevant markets. You're commercially oriented, interpersonally credible and influential across multicultural environments. You can manage complex indirect reporting relationships at all organizational levels within Visa and partner institutions. You have proven experience in influencing, developing and motivating teams toward organizational and customer objectives.
