THE OPPORTUNITY
Application Engineering at Baker Hughes serves as a vital function throughout the entire job lifecycle—from initial planning through active execution to comprehensive post-job analysis. This role bridges engineering expertise, operational excellence, and direct customer engagement, ensuring application requirements are thoroughly defined, risks are properly identified and mitigated, and solutions deliver optimal performance. Working collaboratively with Service Delivery Coordinators, Sales teams, and field personnel, Application Engineers directly shape operational outcomes and customer success.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You will ensure flawless execution across drilling operations by managing pre-planning activities, supporting real-time job implementation, and conducting thorough post-job evaluations. You will design well profiles, evaluate operational risks, and create technical solutions that align with customer goals while maximizing revenue potential. Your involvement in incident analysis, process improvements, and technical problem-solving will strengthen customer relationships and unlock future business opportunities.
Specifically, you will:
- Ensure strict adherence to the Manage the Job Cycle (MtJC) framework
- Partner with assigned Service Delivery Coordinators and Sales representatives to understand client well construction and production objectives
- Design well profiles and execute applications engineering tasks including comprehensive risk mitigation and contingency planning strategies
- Investigate field incidents related to products and services, participating in detailed incident investigations when needed
- Deliver sales support and technical product application guidance
- Execute special projects as assigned
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in well planning or applications engineering roles within drilling services
- Advanced proficiency in spoken and written English
- Willingness to travel to rig sites, customer facilities, training sessions, and meetings
- Availability for on-call support outside standard working hours
- Exceptional interpersonal and planning abilities with strong influencing skills
