OPERATIONS TEAM MEMBER - NAIROBI Java House ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a dynamic Operations Team Member to join Java House's Nairobi location. This is a fast-paced hospitality role that sits at the heart of our restaurant operations, bridging the kitchen, service team, and our valued guests. You will play a crucial role in ensuring every customer enjoys exceptional food, service, and cleanliness standards that Java House is known for. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Service Excellence Deliver food orders from the kitchen to tables with speed and accuracy, ensuring every dish meets our quality standards for presentation, temperature, and appearance. Take guest orders efficiently, present diverse menu options with confidence, and execute suggestive selling techniques tailored to customer preferences. Present bills promptly and process payments with professionalism. Kitchen & Sanitation Operations Support kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, proper storage, and maintaining presentation standards. Take ownership of cleaning and sanitizing all kitchen equipment, pots, pans, cutlery, and crockery. Manage guest and staff washroom cleanliness to the highest standards. Waste Management & Facility Care Oversee proper waste disposal procedures, including bin management and grease trap cleaning. Restock condiments and supplies as needed. Maintain waiter stations and dining areas in pristine condition at all times. Team Support & Standards Compliance Assist wait staff during busy service periods to minimize customer wait times and ensure meals are served hot and fresh. Communicate effectively with kitchen and service teams regarding order status and special guest requirements. Follow all food safety, sanitation guidelines, and established Standard Operating Procedures consistently. Support opening and closing duties as assigned based on business needs. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience KCSE certificate with a minimum mean grade of C plain required. A minimum of 6 months documented working experience as certified Java House staff. Completion of in-house service training. Personal Attributes Strong planner with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with a genuine customer-oriented mindset. Flexible team player who is highly responsible, reliable, and self-driven. Result-oriented, articulate, and proactive in your approach. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently during long shifts and peak service periods.
